Dorms starting at $12, Private rooms starting at $30 Simplicity meets cleanliness meets hipster vibes. This is absolutely one of my favorite places to stay in not only san Jose, but Costa Rica in general. Hotel Urbano Yoses is designed with industrial elegance, is one of the most clean and well maintained hostels I've stayed in thus far. Major bonus, this hostel is situated in one of the nicest and safest neighborhoods in san Jose, San Pedro. San Pedro is brimming with gastropubs and lively bars. It is also extremely close to the La California district which boasts the nicest clubs, restaurants, and even entertainment in San Jose. Trip On Open House Dorms starting at $10, Private rooms starting at $50 Trip On hosts the epitome of hostel life. If you are in the mood to meet other travelers and share in some cross-cultural experiences, this hostel is for you. This hostel serves as a commune for independent travelers and groups of friends alike. The owner is readily available to chat and give suggestions about what to do in San Jose, hell he may even join you on your adventure. This hostel is located in a prime neighborhood, where the current president of Costa Rica resides, and minutes away from some of the newest restaurants in San Jose. Selina San Jose Dorms starting at $12, Private rooms starting at $35 Selina Hostels are the place to be. If you are looking for a hostel the feels more like a hotel, this is for you. This particular Selina, adorned with street art and an upscale grunge feel, is a mecca for youthfulness (and those with a youthful state of mind). Stay here if you want to party, indulge in good food and even better drinks, or simply value clean rooms and great company. Chill vibes and a good time guaranteed. Gaudy’s Backpacker Hostel Dorms starting at $13, Private Rooms starting at $39 This hostel really should be listed as a Bed and Breakfast. Hidden just behind one of the busiest and most traveled boulevards in San Jose, this hostel flirts with the city central, while keeping its distance. Gaudy's is a great escape if you have been on the backpackers route for some time and are looking for a place to recover and recoup. Here you will find a mix of ages chilling in the open air courtyard or sharing snacks while watching a movie in the large and extremely homey living room. Great for a good night’s rest and a yummy breakfast to top it off in the morning. |
