on my mary way mondays week fourteen "I love new places, new people, new ideas. I love cultural differences, and I'm fascinated by the truth - all the different versions of it." -Martin Henderson where in the world is she now
San Jose, Costa Rica. My new temporary home for the next year. I am happy to report that I have taken to city life quite well! I am constantly escaping to the beach or the mountains on the weekends, but I have already grown to love the hustle bustle (Pura Vida style of course) of San Jose central. back on the horse I have definitely neglected the thought spot recently. Not because I haven't been thinking... put simply, life got in the way. I moved. I traveled. I worked longer hours. I made new friends. I stayed out late. I went to bed early. I have tried dozens of cups of coffee to find my favorite on my work commute. And I have been enjoying all of it. Something I have come to appreciate more over these past few months are the "little things." This past year has been full of "big things" so when I first chose to settle in CR for another year I knew I needed to learn to appreciate it's idiosyncrasies- for all that they are worth. :) EARTHQUAKE There's nothing like running out of your hostel in a 6.5 Earth Quake to wake ya back up! Yesterday I was able to experience just that. The quake happened as I was laying down after a delicious Thai feast. Being a Cali babe at heart, I knew the sound and the rumble all too well. And yes, I still panicked. I have not moved that fast in YEARS. No lie. It is events like this though, that remind us to love the people we love extra hard and not take a moment for granted. Luckily, everyone in Costa Rica is okay and there was very minimal physical damage to the area. mantra of the week I am breathing. This week I plan to focus on the things that make me calm, the things that make me anxious, the things that make me excited, and the things that make inhale deeper. So much can be learned when we turn within. I am breathing. That's all for now buds. Stay tuned for more in the mind of Mary. Peace be the Journey, on my mary way |
