week twelve “Nobody can discover the world for somebody else. Only when we discover it for ourselves does it become common ground and a common bond and we cease to be alone.” – Wendell Berry where in the world is she now Feeling sentimental in Ciudad Quesada. After living in CQ for nearly one year, I am only one month away from becoming a "city girl" in San Jose, the capital city of Costa Rica. While I am excited to make a new part of Costa Rica my temporary home, CQ will hold a place in my heart and I will be forever thankful to CQ for teaching me how to "dance in the rain." (This is punny because it rains every. single. day.) gal pals unite! Think sisterhood of the traveling pants, but better. I introduce you to Girls Love Travel. This is a group of long distance lady friends that care and share with each other on Facebook. I joined this group when I began traveling and it had been a constant source of wisdom and inspiration since. If you want to read about some pretty remarkable women, ask questions about traveling as a female, or just need that boost to get out there, join us! grab your popcorn... ...and hit the lights; it's movie night ! If you know me personally, I have probably already forcibly made you watch my new movie obsession, Lion. I watched this movie three times in a 48 hour time span and cried every single time, twice of which, were on a long haul flight from Asia as I sipped red wine and looked to the stranger next to me for comfort (I have no shame). While I normally go for the lighthearted rom-coms, this movie is different. It makes you feel happiness, frustration, love, sadness, and hope - all at once. To my friends who cannot travel far or often, for whatever reason, watch this movie. To my friends who have been around the world and back, watch this movie. It will transport you, no matter who you are. It will make you think. And it will make you feel. (PS: The beginning of the movie is not in English, but has subtitles, give it 15 minutes- you won't be disappointed.) mantra of the week I am grateful. Life can be pretty great, right? I have A LOT of people, places, and things that I feel extreme gratitude towards. This week I am going to let my gratitude out! Let this week be full of "thank you"s and "you rock"s. Say it with me, I am grateful. That's all for now buds. Stay tuned for more in the mind of Mary. Peace be the Journey, on my mary way |
